Traditional stucco in Westchester County, also called hard coat stucco. A detached house has four elevations that all get looked at, so the difficulty here is not applying the stucco. It is getting all four walls to finish the same color.
City stucco work is done one elevation at a time, because on a building in the boroughs only one face is usually on show. A Westchester house is different. Four sides, all visible, all finished at once, and all of them compared against each other by anybody standing on the lawn.
As a traditional stucco contractor in Westchester that changes what the job is about. Cement stucco takes its color from the sand and the cement in it, and both vary between batches. Get that wrong across a Scarsdale or Larchmont colonial and the north wall reads a shade off the west one in flat light. It is not a defect anybody can point to. It just looks wrong, permanently.
Four consequences of doing a whole Westchester house rather than one wall.
A cement stucco takes its color from the aggregate in it. Change sand supplier partway through a Westchester house and the walls mixed afterwards will not match the ones mixed before, whatever is done to the surface.
Scratch and brown coats are commonly specified around one part cement to three of sand. Mixing by eye across a whole Westchester house introduces variation between batches that shows once the walls dry out.
Stopping partway across a wall leaves a joint where the two halves cure at different rates. On a four sided Westchester house that means planning the day around wall widths rather than around working hours.
A city building can take one elevation this year and another next. A Westchester house cannot, because the two will not match and both faces are visible from the same spot on the driveway.
Enough material for the full job is sourced together at the start rather than topped up as it runs out. A second delivery from a different pit or a different cement lot is the most common cause of a wall that does not match.
Same ratio, same water, measured rather than estimated, from the first mix on the first Westchester elevation to the last on the fourth. Consistency across a whole house is arithmetic rather than skill.
Each Westchester elevation gets started only when there is time to finish it. A wall left half done overnight carries a line where the morning work meets the afternoon work, and no amount of finishing hides it.
This is the decision that decides the number, and it is worth making deliberately. Repairing one damaged elevation is cheaper today and leaves you with a wall that will not quite match the other three for several years until weathering closes the gap. Doing all four costs more and removes the question. On a house you are selling within two years the first option is defensible. On one you intend to keep, the second usually is. What we will not do is quote you the single wall without telling you the other three will look different afterwards.

More than anything else in the mix. Cement and water are consistent between batches. Sand varies by pit, by seasonal moisture and by how finely it is graded, and all three shift the finished shade. Locking one source for the whole house is the only reliable way to control it.
Around three to four weeks for a typical detached house, mostly curing rather than working. The coats have to cure before the next goes on, and four elevations cannot all be worked simultaneously by one crew. Weather extends it, and below roughly forty degrees Fahrenheit the work stops entirely.
Depends how long you are staying. One wall costs less now and reads slightly different for a few years until weathering evens it. All four costs more and settles it permanently. On a Westchester house you intend to keep, the whole elevation set is usually the better value.
