The parapet and the steel lintels above the windows. Parapets are exposed on all sides and take the worst of the weather. Lintels rust as water gets behind the brick, and rusting steel expands, which cracks the masonry above the window and pushes the brick outward. Both are visible from the street once you know what to look for.

Most Bronx blocks have curbside space and buildings are lower, so a lift is often enough where a Manhattan job would need a full scaffold or a suspended rig rented by the month. Access is the largest variable in an exterior estimate, so that difference carries through the whole job.
